GRACE IN THE NICU: Faith, Strength, and Survival in Black Maternal Health

Three pregnancies. Three emergencies. Three miracles.A story of faith, survival, and the unbreakable strength of a Black mother.Shani Westbrook is a Black mother, faith-driven entrepreneur, and unwavering advocate for Black maternal health. Her journey is marked by resilience and triumph over extraordinary challenges: surviving severe preeclampsia in all three of her pregnancies, giving birth to two premature children, including a micro-preemie at just 26 weeks, and navigating a life-threatening meningitis diagnosis with her son. Through these trials, she transformed pain into purpose, using her story to empower and uplift others.With a background in medical studies, psychology, and corporate leadership, Shani brings a unique blend of expertise, insight, and lived experience to her work. She equips Black mothers with the tools to speak up, advocate fiercely, and trust their intuition in medical spaces that have historically overlooked or dismissed them.In 2020, Shani launched her own business, building a thriving brand centered on empowerment, education, and community. Her passion for faith, family, and helping women reclaim strength after trauma drives her mission daily.Today, Shani continues to share her testimony widely, raising awareness about Black maternal health disparities, supporting NICU mothers, and championing the voices of women everywhere who need the reminder: their story matters, their life matters, and their voice is powerful.
